Bacchanal Wine

Bywater

Bacchanal is often recommended badly, as if it were simply a romantic backyard with bottles. It is more specific than that: choose wine, find a table, order food, let the music come up around you, and accept that the evening will not move quickly.

The place is best in shoulder-season weather, when the courtyard feels like a shared secret even though everyone knows about it. The music is part of the texture rather than a stage show.

It is worth the Bywater trip when you have time to let dinner become atmosphere. Rushing Bacchanal defeats the point.
