Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar

French Quarter

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop is the rare Bourbon Street stop that can justify itself before irony arrives. The building is low, dark, old, and stubborn, with piano-bar energy and enough myth attached to make strict factual sorting beside the point after midnight.

Do not come here for cocktail technique. Come for the room, the candles, the sense that the Quarter can still produce a corner where time has gone slightly soft. A simple drink is the correct drink.

It is best late, or in the odd early hour before the crowd decides what kind of night it is having. Leave before the spell turns into stickiness.
