Inside the Roosevelt Hotel, behind the Paul Ninas murals, the Sazerac Bar is what a hotel bar should be — not a lobby afterthought but a destination unto itself. The African mahogany bar, the leather banquettes, the deliberate dimness at 4pm on a Tuesday.
Order a Sazerac. This is not a place where ordering anything else makes much sense, though they will make you a Ramos Gin Fizz if you have the patience for the shake. The bartenders move with the unhurried confidence of people who have made the same drink ten thousand times correctly.
Best in the late afternoon before the lobby fills with conventioneers. A pre-dinner stop, not an evening's destination. Dress like you respect the room.
