Vue Orleans is the rare modern attraction that earns its place by changing your sense of the map. From above, the curve of the Mississippi, the Quarter grid, the bridges, the lakeward spread, and the industrial edges become easier to understand.
The interpretive exhibits are useful enough, but the view is the reason. Go early in a trip if you can; it will make later walks feel less abstract.
This is not old New Orleans. That is fine. Sometimes the most clarifying thing in a low, humid city is a high room with clean sightlines.
