Clancy's
An Uptown neighborhood restaurant that behaves like a private club without requiring membership.
Uptown
Clancy's is the restaurant locals recommend when they want you to leave the center of the map. The room is clubby, the service knows exactly what kind of evening it is running, and the menu lives in that very New Orleans territory between Creole classic and Uptown bistro.
Fried oysters with brie, smoked soft-shell crab when the season allows, veal, fish, wine that assumes you are staying a while. It is expensive enough to plan around and relaxed enough to keep from feeling punitive.
This is a cab ride dinner, not a stumble-in dinner. Dress like the room deserves it and let Uptown make its case.
