CBD, just outside the Quarter, in a corner space with floor-to-ceiling windows and the kind of natural light no Quarter restaurant has. The cornbread with honey butter is the order, breakfast or otherwise — order it at dinner too. Biscuits with chocolate gravy, shrimp and grits, a properly assembled fried chicken biscuit.

The cookie counter near the door has a line for a reason; take a few to go and thank yourself later. Coffee is serious. The bar makes a good Sazerac if you've earned one before noon.

Reservations help on weekends; weekday mornings walk in. Counter seating is good for solo diners. Kelly Fields won the James Beard Outstanding Pastry Chef award and the bakery program is what separates this from the dozen other modern Southern restaurants doing biscuits.
