Henry Howard Hotel

Garden District

The Henry Howard Hotel is a handsome 1860s mansion with enough period detail to satisfy the architecture-minded and enough restraint to avoid becoming a prop closet. It sits in the Garden District, away from the Quarter's centrifugal force.

Rooms are intimate, and the public life of the hotel is deliberately small. That is the point. You use the house as a base for Magazine Street, St. Charles, and long walks under the oaks, then come back to somewhere that does not demand a performance.

Stay here for quiet, scale, and neighborhood texture. It is one of the better arguments for treating New Orleans as a city of houses, not just rooms over bars.
