Kermit's Tremé Mother-in-Law Lounge

Tremé

The Mother-in-Law Lounge began as Ernie K-Doe's gloriously strange shrine to himself and became, under Kermit Ruffins, a Tremé music room with deep neighborhood feeling. The building is part bar, part clubhouse, part local mythology engine.

Go for brass, for early sets, for the pleasure of seeing a room where personality has not been sanded smooth. Schedules can move like New Orleans schedules, so check the current calendar and do not build the whole trip on one unverified rumor.

When it works, it feels less like attending a show than being allowed inside a neighborhood's ongoing conversation.
