The Broadside is one of the better new additions to the city's venue map: outdoor when the weather cooperates, indoor when it must, and broad enough in programming to handle music, film, comedy, markets, and civic oddities.
It feels less like a traditional club than a neighborhood cultural yard with production values. That is a compliment. The calendar is varied, so the right night matters more than the name alone.
Use it when you want something current and local without pretending every meaningful New Orleans night happened before 1975.
